PARTY POKER

A lot has happened since our original review of Party Poker. Since then its parent company has gone public and split from Empire Poker. Then they did a complete turn around and purchased Empire Poker. One thing remains the same, Party is the largest online poker room on the planet.

Party Poker Texas Hold 'Em Table

Party Poker has the largest player base of any online poker room. In fact, the player base is well ahead of all the other sites. This means there is more than enough action at all games. While every other online poker room has good action at the Texas Hold ‘Em tables, some online poker rooms have little or no action at the less popular Omaha and 7-Card Stud tables. Not only is there action at all the games, there are more than enough tables to go around. This means no waiting at any limit and you can find a table with only a couple players or you can squeeze into nearly full table -- your choice.

The lowest limit table at Party is $0.50/$1, which is quite high when compared to the micro limits of 5¢/10¢ offered at other sites. If that's a concern then you should give one of the other sites, like Pacific Poker or Gaming Club Poker, a try.

The playability is okay. The table graphics and sounds are pleasant. The table comes with goofy characters, but you can turn them off if you like. You can keep player notes by right clicking on the player. You can also selectively block their inane chatter. Most, if not all, poker sites have next move buttons where you can select your next move ahead of your turn. Many poker rooms are very careful about the placement and action of these buttons, but Party is an exception. So be very careful of Party's next move buttons because a "check" can turn into a "call" in mid click. If this happens you may or may not have enough time to undo it. Similarly, the "check" next move button can be replaced by a live "call" button mid click, which you can't undo. If the betting is close to you avoid using the next move buttons until you get the feel for them. If the betting is several players in front then it should be safe to use them.

The bottom line is this. If you feel comfortable with $0.50/$1 limits or above then Party Poker is an good room to deposit some of your poker bankroll, especiall if you're looking for action in non Holdem games. This is an okay all-around site on the Internet as it has something for everyone, except the micro limit players. However, there are many online poker rooms we feel are much better.
