When you start to get on a roll and are finally winning some of your normal
bets, do you ever just throw something down on the 12?
I've always just played basic strategy and the occasional hardway but never
any of the real high odds/high house edge bets. Ever had any luck if so?
thanks

Whenever I get my bets pressed up to $390 across ($25 table starting
with 130 or 135 across) I start betting $20 on the horn on every throw.
Yeah, you can argue its a waste of money, but at that point Im making
at least $105 on every throw so taking a shot with the $20 horn is not
a big deal for me.... and if ive pressed up to that level, I must have
already had a big win.

If a shooter throws two twelves in a row, I will throw $5 on the 12
just in case it hits a third time. Twice it has. I dont press.

There is a common play called, "See a Horn - Bet a Horn".

Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

I learned it from Heavy.

Alan,

Are you not including the vig money in this wager, or do you not buy the 4
&/or10? Or do they not charge vig up front where you play?

Just curious,

MDD

Horns work. I will usually lay 5 with a High on the last horn. Although,
come bets are what they teach prop bets can make good when the fall.
However, with the vig they really are a suck bet. I did watch one man play
11 and 12 every 3 or 4 roll. At first I though he was a bozo but whith in 2
hours he quaded is bankroll. But by the end of the evening he was out. I
also the repeat on 12 for a buck and 5 bucks for third one and 20 for the
fourth. I hit it once coolest thing.

I used to play a parlay on 11 when the mood struck me: 5 & 1 up to green
and red, then 50 and 6 (which I would mention had a certain nice sound).
I got a few doubles, which make for a nice payday, but never hit the
triple. I now use Eddie's Hardway Parlay
http://www.frankscoblete.com/ArticlePopup.cfm?ArticleId=15101
when playing the props.

Forgot to mention that I use the Colorful Variation and have hit the

Very rarely.

A few years ago I was playing in Laughlin. The table was comfortably
full of players. I noticed that one player threw a 12 as his first dice
toss the last two times the dice made it around the table to him. So I
put $5 on the 12 the third time he got the dice. He threw another 12.
You never know...

One time in Vegas I was next to a guy who played mainly hardways, 12s,
and yos. To the tune of $100 a pop. He did all right but he admitted
that it was kind of scary sometimes. I once had visions of playing only
the 12 but my WinCraps simulations showed that there can sometimes be
depressingly long stretches between 12s. Like ~100 numbers between. Smile

My answer really isn't on point, but it reminded me of something I want to
say.

A black chip player was making prop bets quite a bit, but don't remember him
ever betting just the 12 but he did bet the high/low for $25 occasionally.

During my first roll, I think the table must have been cold because all but
one person left the other end before I started my roll, I started out good.
Made 2 points right back and was repeating numbers. This black chip player,
hopped all the hardways and I threw a hard 4, he won $675 and left the$100
hop bet up. Threw me a green chip. I didn't do it again.

Later he made the same bet on another shooter without winning.

I rolled 22 times that roll but the table stayed cold.

Quite a feat, to roll 22 times on a "cold" table. How many rolls would
you had to have to consider that the table turned "hot?"

As in "cool hand luke?" perhaps?

Sorry but I just noticed this thread again. At Caesars they collect
the vig on the 4 and 10 on the win, and not in advance.

So, a cold table turned hot for your shoot, then reverted to being
cold, right? My point, Noah, is that these "table descriptions" are
completely and totally useless. If the table actually was "cold," in
the sense that the probabilities of winning "rightside" bets were
lower than normal, you shouldn't have had a 22-roll shoot. If the
table was "hot," the next shooters should have done well, as well. The
idea of "hot" and "cold" table conditions having predictive value is
garbage.

The table descriptions are fine and not garbage. The descriptions are
used in conjunction with real short or long term results. The problem
seems to be for some that any jargon used that doesn't conform or
reflect the "math theory" are judged to be useless.

Noah, I, and I would "guess" (ooppps, pardon the garbage non technical
math term) many others understood perfectly what you meant with
reference to table conditions. Us illiterate innumerate slime actually
do communicate verbally reasonably well. Glad someone doesn't qualify
everything out of the math dictionary.
