This newsgroup is quickly deteriorating since AOL stopped carrying
newsgroups. I never realized how many AOL people were in it. There
have suddenly appeared many advertisers trying to sell us things that
have nothing to do with craps. Everybody seems to be ignoring them
but they still take up space and our "normal" discussions have just
about disappeared.

I no longer depend on this group. This is also the first time I have
actually posted since AOL disappeared.

It is getting worse and worse. Where is everybody? Why does it
suddenly look like an advertising bulletin board? Was there that much
dependency on AOL?

If we want to get off topic, let's talk about the price of gasoline.
My suggestion is that if everybody picks one brand that is very
popular, like Mobil Gas, and does not buy it until the price goes at
that station goes down to $1.499 per gallon (less than $1.50) then when
that station does not do ANY business for a month or so, they will
reduce it to $1.49 and then everybody abandons all of the other
stations and they will have lines around the block. That will bring it
down... but it take total cooperation just as right now the oil
companies are in total cooperation with each other to keep the prices
up and not compete with each other. We must always remember that the
cost to them is irrelevant, and only supply and demand controls the
price... as long as our demand is up our price is up.... if we have NO
DEMAND for one brand, then their price will go down, and so will the
others after that.

If we are not going to talk about craps, we may as well talk about
something that will save us money so that we can go to the casinos and
spend it instead of the gas stations.

What makes you think that AOL dropping newsgroups would result in more
spam on this newsgroup?

Jim - I somewhat agree with you on the "quickly deteriorating" part ,
but I don't blame the loss of AOL's access to newsgroups as a main
reason. However, with MLB starting, my attention is 99% towards
absorbing all of the sports data I can read. A few straight bets and
parlays are also in the equation.

------------

Alan, I don't think that it results in more spam, but in less postings
that are not
spam, so that the result is that we see what appears to be "an
advertising bulletin
board" as I said.
