1981 I believe, and as I recall J. Montana had a fine year
tpyo...should read 1982 (not 1981)

the final year that WARREN MOON
led EDMONTON to the world 3-down
pro football championship title,
which was their 5th consecutive title!

Just to correct my faulty memory...it looks like the NFL didn't use
replacement players in the 1982 work stoppage. But I **know** that the
guys in my dorm wanted to watch non-NFL-caliber football rather than a
division deciding baseball game, because I remember being annoyed at
being outvoted. I'm as much of an NFL fanatic as anyone so I wouldn't
have been as upset if it was NFL football.
So what I think is maybe the NFL TV networks that year were
broadcasting CFL football during the strike, in place of the NFL.
Since I don't think replacement players were used in that strike. That
must be what I am remembering through the haze of 23 years. And it was
CFL football that was chosen over the O's game for the dorm television. |

using replacement players, the guys in my dorm still wanted to watch
that crappy football instead of the last day of the baseball season
with the Orioles and Brewers playing for the AL East title. So instead
of watching the O's game on a nice big color screen in our dorm TV
lounge I had to watch it on my 12" B&W sit in my room.
Don't even talk to me about the Friday night doubleheader sweep that
pulled the O's to within two games of the Brewers with two to play...to
listen to that, due to poor radio reception, I had to go up to the 6th
floor of my dorm and practically hold my radio outside a window for 5
hours.
All you folks that grew up after cable TV and ESPN became prevalent
nationwide probably can't even comprehend the preceding paragraphs! |

playoff game?!? They should have had a power surge take out their

No scabs in 82, that was 87. That was a painful O's game...

That was a heroic tun, they were 6.5 out in early Sept and pulled to 3 with
4 to play. The Fri DH actually pulled them to 1 and Sat to a tie, Sun was
a one game season.
