Have any of you ever even MET Mike Matusow? Do you know anything about the
man? I have the pleasure of knowing him and liking him. Does he have some
flaws in his personality? OF COURSE. Don't we all?

Mike made a mistake and has paid for it. He has been released from jail.
Drop the "convict" shit. His behaviour is sometimes questionable, but that
is EXACTLY what makes people want to see him on TV, not unlike Hellmuth, or
others.

I've bit my tongue until now. I couldn't believe some moron started a post
to have the WPT FINE MATUSOW. WTF? Who the fuck do you think you are?
The money in the prize pool doesn't belong to the WPT, it belongs to the
players. The shows are EDITED, and therefore the clips were INTENTIONALLY
LEFT IN, IDIOT!.

Where was all of the outrage when the WPT Costa Rica Show aired with one of
INTERPOLS MOST WANTED at the final table?! That's right, "Don" Luis Milanes
was at the final table. The Cuban Mafia leader who scammed $250 MILLION
from investors and split the country with it was aired on the WPT and I
didn't hear word one about anyone "fining" him.

I've had the pleasure of doing play by play with Mike as my "color guy" at a
WPT event (PPM II) and he was brilliant as a color man. He is an extremely
good poker player and a lot of you are just flat-out JEALOUS.

While Mike and I aren't "best friends" we are buddies and I think the envy
and jealousy of the "have-nots" is always directed at the "haves" and guess
what...you aren't the "HAVES". Mike is!

He might be the nicest person in the world but on TV he comes across as a
rude whiny foul-mouthed egotistical crybaby. Why would I want to get to
know him?

Yea, well what most people know about Matusow is he made derogatory comments
toward a very likable person on what is probably THE most seen hour of poker on
tv, they know he went to jail for some very questionalbe activity, they know he
has an ego the size of Raymers final chip stack at the WSOP.  Sorry, but you
have to expect the reaction people have towards him, we like to see good people
win and bad people fail, thats just human nature.  You can say the publics
opinion is formed out of ignorance, but the weight of evidence is greatly
against Mike here.

matusow's color work is horrid.... i had to turn the show off because
of his forced enthusiasm.

he made the river seem like it made or broke the player on every
hand... very similar to his own play style i might add.

he didn't portray the ups and downs or brilliant plays or thought
processes... he just told us that this dude needs a king, lets wait for
it... HERE IT COMES, ITS A 4!!!! ITS A 4!!!!

i'm dead serious, i really hated it.

I don't ever remember saying he's a champion of personality. I just happen
to like the guy personally. Most of the posters that are bashing him here
have never met him. They will never play at the level he plays at. They
don't know the real story behind his arrest and subsequent plea bargain, and
are just plain ENVIOUS.

Shaudenfruede (sp?) runs rampant here. 99% of the loudest posters here
can't survive at 10-20 limit poker, but have all the answers. The love to
"see how the mighty have fallen". Well, Mike fell, but he got back up and
is back in the game.

RGP has become a vast wasteland of affiliate spamming, hero worship, and
Shaudenfruede. I'll admit, I've had my public arguments with people here on
RGP, but I've also been posting/lurking/reading here since '96 so that's
bound to happen. Poker content is so buried in all of the SHIT that people
want to post about that it's almost not worth reading anymore.

That's all I'm saying, "he who is without sin, cast the first stone".

um, where the hell would you get that from? he's a loudmouth sure, but i don't
see how that would equate to someone who "probably beats women". abusers come in
all shapes, sizes, colors and personalities, sounds to me like you heard a
little bit about the guy and want to start attaching your agendas to him since
he did a little time. bad post

I'm really not envious of someone like Matusow.  Seriously, I wouldn't want to
live his life.

I'm envious of people like Phil Ivey, Lederer, etc.  Great players who have
respect for the game but more importantly respect for their fellow players.
Nothing annoys me more than a jerkoff with no social skills who belittles people
at the table.    It's childish and it's bad for poker.  You might be impressed
with that shit but I'm not.

Why would I envy someone that froths at the mouth and can't control himself at
the table? Why would I be envious of a whining, self entitled crybaby?  Why
would I respect someone who constantly talks about how great they are when there
are clearly dozens of players who outperform in their play and in their "class"
as human beings?

I think Matusow has proven he's a good player. I'd rather watch him that some
players.

His problems are none of my business.

I don't know the guy but he seems to have many friends in the poker world who
have his back. I think that says more than a few TV clips.
