Posted her about a week ago asking about upgrades for this program. Have
version 3 but want V5. Don't mind paying for it but I can't get the site to
answer my emails about compatibility. Got a bunch of answers about the old
Mattel toy racing calculator. Thing wasn't worth a darn. I worked out the
ratings and put them into a computer program and tried it on several hundred
races. It picked the favorite almost every time. Power-online is put out by
Steve Wolfson and is a fantastic program. I use it for longshots and it
caught me a $54 and a $28 winners during the last days of the SA meet. At
one point I checked it was hitting 42.35% with $1.42 ROI per dollar. Using a
ML odds qualification I boosted it to 47.37% and ROI of $2.84. This was over
390 races. |

They have a nice website. They dont return your emails? Not someone I'd
care to do business with but hey, 47.37% and roi 2.84, I'd stick with
what works.

They answered .I was just impatient. Wasn't too happy since I can't use my
database (so they say) but I got that worked out . Am working on a new track
now since SA closed. Think I will go to LAD as the data I have from there
really looks good. Bought the upgrade but will take time to get it up to
speed. Until then I can use my older version. Think the program will work at
any track but you have to learn how to use it at each track. That was my
problem for a long time. I kept trying to find a universal formula.

Care to elaborate on your ML odds qualification? We might find it
useful with other methods.

It varies with the track. At SA I was using 4.5/1 (9/2) minimum. morning
line. While this does not guarantee the payout it seems to eliminate some of
the lower mutuals and quite a few plays. Only problem with it is there were
a limited number of picks. I tried it without a minimum odds (ML) and had a
good win percentage but some days I would lose money even though I had a
couple of winners. Considered using real odds and varying the bet but they
frequently changed even after post. It is annoying to have a 5/2 which you
eliminated come in and pay twice that but then everything can't be perfect.

My latest strange idea is ML / Starters (really betting interests).
Examples: (odds top selection)
7/2 and 9 starters: 39%
8-1 and 12 starters: 67%
2-1 and 5 starters: 40%
5-1 and 10 starters: 50%
20-1 and 8 starters: 250%
10-1 and 7 starters: 143%
I used this ranking method to make my top 7 picks (min ML 7/2)
across 4 tracks in last Saturday's Classic contest. Hit 2/7 for
$35 WP, but I prefer win only: $25.40 / $14
I should test this on old data and try to find an optimal percentage.
