No, I'm only tolerant when it happens to someone else. When it happens to me
I want to kill the motherfucker.

"When my organs fail, I'll consider that a sign that I should be dying
soon."

Brave talk bucko, but I ain't buyin' it. I've heard a lot of people make
big speeches about
not bein' afraid of dyin' - when they didn't think they were in any danger
of it happening. It's been
my experience that they act a hell of a lot different when it comes down to
it. A guy like you -
my guess is he'd sacrifice just about any one or any thing to stay alive.

was
in a hospital, I weighed 7lbs, 8oz. I don't believe in conventional

Don't worry..you will become a believer real quick when, say, your

Wort
your wellness practitioner shoves up your ass doesn't do shit. Then when
those doctors you don't believe in save your life by giving you a kidney

you'll be glad everyone chipped in. I guarantee it. ;-)

Don't hold your breath. Don't put St. John's Wort up your ass either. When

offensive
100 years ago... but minds have broadened.

City of mooches... walk down a downtown street. Go to an ER. Go to an
Immigration office... see the mooches. It's the climate we've created.

Jeezus H. Crist. What a wild goose chase. I spent half the day walking
the
streets and visiting ERs and immigration offices and I didn't see one
thing
different from any other city. I guess the joke's on me.

Guess so. I'd suggest that there are a few more immigrants clogging the
system
here than in, say... Saskatoon. Saskatoon... which is exactly the same as
Vancouver.

I think you will enjoy it here.

I've been through there twice on the way to Whistler, both times I felt
the same way I did when I saw San Franscisco the first time, just a
wonderful place. But if you are an American how the hell do you just pick
up and live there, I was thinking about a move to New Zealand once and
just for kicks sent an immigration poll to Canada as its a part of the
Empire. Didn't score enough points to qualify, and I'm a Doctor?

I'm going strictly by memory here but:

If you have a professional degree (medicine, dentistry, law, accounting,
teaching, business, library sciences, etc etc), and will be working in your
field, I believe the simplest way to immigrate to Canada from the US would
be under a NAFTA TN-1 temporary worker visa. I believe these visas are good
for 1 year but can be (and are) renewed indefinitely. These visa's are
simple to get. You just show all your documentation at the border as you
cross (degree, letter from prospective employer, etc) and pay a small fee.

Another popular option that comes to mind is Canada's Immigrant Investor
Program (you need a certain amount of capital - around $500,000 I think - to
invest in a business that will employ a certain number of people).

The old fashioned way is the regular immigration points system and as you
pointed out this system is difficult to say the least. I have read newspaper
accounts of seemingly exceptional candidates being rejected under this
system. But if you are in a profession that is in high demand (like
medicine) it's worth looking into.

My facts are probably all wrong or out of date because I know next to
nothing about immigration law and never did, but this might give you a few
research leads anyway.

If you are serious about immigrating to Canada you should get a lawyer to
evaluate your maze of options. I could refer you to one of Canada's top
immigration lawyers for a consultation if you are so inclined. Good luck.

"Please describe 'a guy like me.'"

A guy who talks real big on an internet newsgroup about not being afraid of
dying. A guy who says he wouldn't take the
best available medical assistance if he was dying - even if that assistance
would save his life.
Like I said bucko - I ain't buyin' it.

I didn't ask you to.  And I have my own idea of what the best medical assistance
is.

Thanks Bill, but I'm looking at Alaska now, close enough to visit often
though.
