how is that gonna help there with there PR??
are all top poker players sick gamblers?? whatever happened to math

Are we all at the end like that old guy with an Oxygen tank next to him
sitting in a corner of a 7 eleven at 3am trying to match the cherry in

bottom line is this....they are degenerate losers.  out all night, sleep all
day.  in reality, they are all alone.   it's like dating a drug dealer.   make
good money, but still a loser.  any woman (or man in danny's case) is real

I really dont believe one must be a "gambler" to be a great poker player. My
guess is that the old Texas road gamblers (most especially Doyle), were big
gamblers, and the new up and comers as they established themselves and became
accepted among the subculture of elite poker players, they probably were kind of
expected to be "one of the boys" and make silly side bets and sports bets etc.
Thus, they got into these other forms of gambling, or at least perhaps more
heavily than they were before.

Its just a guess of course, really I have no idea, but from what I've read it
appears that high stakes players are very sociable with each other and seem to
have a tight knit circle. Of course Danny and the others are big boys, so if
this is the case its no excuse, but I do think its understandable.

Not trying to take sides but I dont think $1000 to those guys is a lot of money. I know that I have played cards (kaiser, Crib) at my work on break with some of the guys and the losers have to buy a couple rounds, after work. If had as much money as Daniel and Erick then I think playing for $1000 would probally feel about the same.

You guys ever read the front section of SuperSystem? I can't speak for Negraneau
or Lindgren, but Doyle has admitted losing millions in bad wagers. I highly
doubt their highest wagers are at the 1k mark.

Probably the only true statement in this thread.  If you're not a gambler (i.e.
it doesn't make you want to shit yourself when you have 1m on the line in a ring
game) you won't be a very good poker player.

The mental side of things for these guys is what makes them so good.  You could
be a great player, but if playing a 5k HU match scares you, you can't reach the
top.
