So I've been playing low-limit SnGs on Party. It's a new structure for
me, 800 chips instead of the 1500 I'm used to at pokerroom and FTP.

I've failed to cash in 6 in a row (10+1), since I started here. At
pokerroom I was making steady money at 20+2.

What typically happens is, I end up as the short stack with 4 left, and
have to move in with whatever I can get before the blinds cripple me.
I'm playing tighter than everyone else at the table. Two players
double up on coinflips early, and take a few more chips from impatient
players on life-support, to end up with 2200 each... and 1 other player
has built a stack of 2800 or so, through good play. This leaves them,
and me, with 1000 or less. No exaggeration, this is what's happened
pretty well every time...

Just wondering if the problem might be that I'm failing to adjust to
the structure... How should I adjust? I'm running out of bankroll,
too, so I might need to drop down to 5 (argh). I need a workable
approach. Any feedback greatly appreciated.

Solution for you?

Either you stop playing SNG's on Party, or you loosen up your game when you play
SNG's on Party by raising to open a pot with ANY TWO CARDS (yes, even 72
offsuit, which will beat AK suited head-to-head one out of 3 times) when you
have POSITION (cutoff seat or button) when the blinds reach 50-100 (level 4) so
that you can steal enough blinds to stay alive.

Aces, you are admitting that Pokerroom has a better structure, so you can
win more? And you aren't playing there? You'd clean up bro!

As an aside, I cash in > 70% of the Pacific S&Gs I play. Of course, they
are 5 handed and pay top 3. ;)

Easy. Your "oh shit, I need to make a move" threshold is set too
low. You should realize that you're at the desperation point
earlier, and start making moves when you have more chips.

I didn't see those as profitable when I played there, mostly because I had
it in my mind that the 6 player "fast" SNG's were beatable. Well, they
were for a while, since I took $75 to $250 playing the $5 level and $250
to $700 playing the $20 level, but I then started to realize what sort of
streak I was on, and that it wasn't sustainable.

800 chips, 6 players, blinds move up every 6 hands, top 2 pay. Yeah,
there's not a whole lot of play there Smile Moving to Empire's SNG's (same
as Party) the format actually improved!

instead of immediatly thinking what i said was contradictory and stupid why dont
u use your fucking brain instead? the diffrence in win rate isnt that much
however the time it takes to finish 4 SNG's on party is much much less then
anywhere else. therefor ur hourly wage is higher at party then any other site. u
get it u stupid bastarD?

Aces, explain how Party can offer a 'lower win rate' yet be the most
profitable place to play? The payout structure is identical at both
sites; 5x for 1st, 3x for 2nd and 2x for 1st.

I played a 20+2, a bad idea given my current bankroll. But, I was much
more comfortable and had a much better sense of where I was at for the
entire game, which I won. I'm still not sure what to do against
maniacs in SnGs...

Patti, you're right. And thanks to Oliver; I started doing what you
suggested and I already started moneying. Being tight, I was able to
steal pre-flop AND postflop, at exactly the right moments.

Except once, i raised with 72 off on the button, and got re-raised. I
had to fold, and I gave life back to a player on life-support. but it
worked as advertising because my subsequent raise with AA got 2
callers!

My sample size is small so I'll avert flames by NOT posting win rates
for a long while...

Easy. Go google things I've posted about this in the past.

Short answer: Would you rather make 1.2 buyins every 40 minutes, or
1.3 buyins every 90?
