I can't help but wonder what my idol, Wilhelm Kuhlmann was doing in the 60s.
I was a mere child in elementary and junior high school. As Wilhelm is
older than I, he was already an adult in those years and I wonder where
William Kuhlmann was back then. Was he even in those days speading the
message of the Left? Was he at People's Park in Berkeley, spreading the
Left's message of free love and peace?

Was Wilhelm Kuhlmann putting flowers in the gun barrells of the National
Guardsmen? Was Wilhelm Kuhlmann groovin to the sounds of the Jefferson
Airplane?

Ah, the Jefferson Airplane.

Who can forget such great bands like the Jefferson Airplane, with the
chilling vocals of Grace Slick?
http://www.airplane.freeserve.co.uk/grace.htm

And remember Paul Kantner, founder of the Jefferson Airplane?
http://www.airplane.freeserve.co.uk/paul.htm

What lovely people. Ah, the compassionate Left. Just give peace a chance.

In Paul Kantner's diary about his dealings with Nicaragua, he wrote the
following about Nora Astorga, who became a special prosecutor for the
Sandanistas, and responsible for dealing with the 8000 captured members of
the Nicaraguan National Guard.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NORA

I first learned of Nora Astorga in 1983. She was my first true,
inspirational connection to the Sandinista revolution. She has since been
referred to as 'that Sandinista assassin' by those who would paint her as a
'commie,' a guerrilla, a Sandinista! Her story filtered to me like this:

She had been a corporate lawyer in Managua during the Somoza
regime...like Montgomery Street, but in Managua. She was, and is, bright,
beautiful, and the mother of five children. She was also a Sandinista,
working secretly in the city. One of Somoza's generals, General Reynaldo
Perez Vega, kept pestering her for a date. He was the stereotypical South
American general -- fat, ugly, big cigar and medals down to his cojones.
And, he was a brutal tool of the regime.

One day, she appeared to give in to his fervent pleas, and invited
him to her apartment. Four Sandinista soldiers, however, were waiting,
hidden inside her bedroom closet. They intended to take him prisoner and
hold him hostage in return for the release of many Sandinistas who were
being held in Somoza's jails by the National Guard.. When they burst out of
the closet, the general got very macho and they ended up killing him. At
that point, Nora had to hide her children away and flee into the mountains
until July 19, 1979 -- the 'Time of the Triumph,' as the Sandinista victory
is called.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is a perfect example of how the compassionate Left, like Wilhelm
Kuhlmann, distort the truth by leaving out key facts and painting an
entirely different picture for the gullible.

Paul Kantner describes the killing of General Vega as "When they burst out
of the closet, the general got very macho and they ended up killing him."

And that is all Paul Kantner says. That's all.

There's a little more detail about the killing of General Vega, however,
which Paul Kantner chose to leave out. Below, from Nicaragua Betrayed.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"On the night of the murder, General Vega went to Astorga's house and, on
the allegation by Astorga that she had no liquor, he sent his driver and
bodyguard away to get some. This, of course, was planned. General Vega had
no way of knowing that secluded in the house was a group of Sandanista
cohorts of Astorga's. What happened to Vega should not happen to any human
being. First, he was beaten to a bloody pulp. Then, his eyes were gouged
out, his throat cut, and his body burned with cigarettes, and as a final act
of torture, his genitals were cut off and stuffed in his mouth. Attending
doctors estimated that it took several hours for the General to die."

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

But Paul Kantner, the founder of the Jefferson Airplane merely says, "When
they burst out of the closet, the general got very macho and they ended up
killing him."

Why does the Left distort the truth? Is it because they, like Wilhelm
Kuhlmann, are only pretenders and must cover up their intentions lest the
people learn how truly evil Wilhelm Kuhlmann really is?

When the truth is found to be lies
And all the joy within you dies

Don't you want somebody to love
Don't you need somebody to love
Wouldn't you love somebody to love
You better find somebody to love

When the garden flowers baby are dead yes
And your mind is full of red

Don't you want somebody to love
Don't you need somebody to love
Wouldn't you love somebody to love
You better find somebody to love

Your eyes, I say your eyes may look like his
But in your head baby I'm afraid you don't know where it is

Don't you want somebody to love
Don't you need somebody to love
Wouldn't you love somebody to love
You better find somebody to love

Tears are running ah running down your breast
And your friends baby they treat you like a guest

Don't you want somebody to love
Don't you need somebody to love
Wouldn't you love somebody to love
You better find somebody to love

I miss the Jefferson Airplane.....what a great band. Cassady's bass
riff that starts out the "Bless it's Pointy Little Head" album still
gives me chills to this day.

Stupid politics aside, the Airplane/Starship was a great band that could
easily have continued with or without Kantner. But it was never the same
during the periods that Marty Balin was absent from it. Marty Balin and
Grace Slick's harmonies, propelled along by Jorma Kaukonen's lead guitar
was the engine that drove the airplane. Balin, in my opinion, is one of the
great male rock singers of that era, along with David Clayton Thomas, Rod
Stewart, and Van Morrison.

Wow! Heavy stuff for a Poker forum. That said, the Jefferson Airplane was my
favorite "60's" band. Trust me, not all members of the group shared the radical
politics of Paul Kantner.

Guys like Jorma Kaukonen (lead guitarist) and Jack Casady (bass player)were a
little more down to earth. Plus, they didn't sell out (like Kantner did) with
that crap band Jefferson Starship.

That said, the Airplane had one of the best vocal combinations in music history.
(And Jorma is a great guy, trust me.)

A great DVD is "Fly Jefferson Airplane." Recommend it highly.

May you NEVER "seven-out," ...*guy...
